China has now shut down two entire cities as Omicron highlights the utter futility of a zero-Covid policy. Supply chain issues are going to get worse. Inflationary pressures will be more than transitory.
Occasional Series – Nicola Sturgeon
I know, none of us wants the high priestess of Wokeness in our cornflakes, but I cannot help myself.
Sturgeon’s shiny new Covid policy is that face masks will be worn in public places for years to come.
This is more than a touch orra, as Sturgeon might say, if she really was Scottish. This policy is dehumanising. It is a disgrace.
I do hope she wins her next referendum, so we can be rid of her nonsense. It has been going on for too long now.

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – Jerome Baker designs
Based in Las Vegas (lucky people) this company is famous for making custom bongs for schlebs such as Snoop Dogg, George Clooney, Grateful Dead, Santana, and Rita Marley.
Remarkably it started accepting BTC as a payment option way back in 2012, which would be very nice if it resisted the temptation to exchange for fiat at the time. Despite being one of the earliest crypto adopters, the company has only recently announced the decision to accept ETH soon.
At the same time, Jerome Baker Designs has announced its ETH based NFT plans.
Founder and President Jason Harris is apparently in the top ten glassblowers in the world. Some of the standard ranges of bongs are quite beautiful, though each piece is individual and unique:
Jason Harris has this to say:
“As an artist, we need a certificate of authenticity to connect to the art. NFTs act as a certificate of authenticity and create value and legacy.”
The creation of five bongs in the Burnt Orange collection (https://www.jeromebaker.com/p/burnt-orange) will be documented as NFTs and auctioned at Superchief Gallery, along with the physical bong itself.
The NFTs come with real world benefits including glass blowing classes and a visit to the workshop floor in Las Vegas.
…
I get a lot of questions asking essentially what the point of an NFT is. What is the value it can bring?
This is a real-life and valid example of how companies will leverage NFTs to bring their customers closer, and to develop new and innovative revenue streams.

Reminder – Olympus and Wonderland are, to the best of my knowledge, live viable projects. XEUS, FORT and JADE turned out to be scams, though they are still live scams. Scams are not uncommon in these Wild West fringes of Decentralised Finance (DeFi).
Photon appears to have won the prize for being the most extraordinary scam. In under 18 hours it went to zero. And as far as I can tell – and I am no blockchain analytics expert – they walked away with less than $30k.
It is very upsetting we have scumbags like that around.
