tl;dr

The CCC will have limited production and content for the next week as we focus on a party and setting up our first overseas office.

Market Snap (at time of writing)

Market Wrap

Signs of stress in bond markets, typified by French yields spiking to 2015 highs as Le Pen draws closer to Macron in the polls. Accelerating bond yields are generally not good for risk markets.

Occasional Series – BTC as legal tender

I hear that the Caribbean Island of Roatán and Madeira, a semi-autonomous region of Portugal, will be adopting BTC as legal tender.

That’s going to ruffle a few feathers in the corridors of the European Council, the European Parliament and the European Commission, the three bodies that between them claim ownership of legislative and regulatory power within the EU.

Occasional Series – Party time & a small hiatus

As a gentle reminder, tonight is the leaving party for our very own Head of Media, Janey de Nordwall, who has taken on responsibility for running our first overseas office. All are welcome from 9pm at Equus House, 66 Barbauld Road, London N16 0ST. Bring good beer and good cheer.

Meanwhile, I will be helping set up the IT infrastructure in Inverie for our new office. Production of the CCC will be patchy and limited from today and all week as a result.

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – Crypto battles

The scepticism shown by Warren Buffett towards cryptos is well known, describing it as “rat poison”.

Billionaire Peter Thiel has given his view on Buffett.

Holding up a photo of Buffett at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami, Peter said:

“Enemy number one. The sociopathic grandpa from Omaha.”

Don’t hold back Peter, let us know what you really think.
