tl;dr

Sweden is populated with people who think right, but don’t always eat right. Nor would I eat a McRib, but its return is a welcome sight, nonetheless.

$985mm inflow just yesterday to the spot BTC ETFs drove us to within an inconsequential $300 of the ATH set on 24th August 2025 at 124,500. Clear blue sky above means you should be asking when we will get to $150k, not if.

The CCC will be offline for a few days. Stuff to do in Manchester, doncha know. Look after the price of BTC in my absence please.

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – Sweden

Sweden gains plaudits from many people from all walks of life, and rightly so. All the time I have spent there has been delightful in so many ways.

Two Swedish Democrats have introduced a most enlightened piece of legislation. It is up to others to evaluate the probability of its passing into law. The proportional representation system in Sweden means that not very much ever gets done politically wise, which to be frank is probably the best thing that PR can ever achieve. Stop the politicians getting involved is a message I would vote for every time, but we are unlikely to see it on those annoying, pointless, political party tree-killing flyers we all get all the time through our letterboxes.

Anyway, this new bill has two important features:

The first is a legislative demand to embed freedom, democracy, and liberty – values and beliefs that are under attack by some – into Swedish law. My Swedish is a bit rusty, so please excuse any unintended translation errors that may have crept into my understanding of what has been put forward for discussion:

“Furthermore, we propose that the government declare that it does not intend to change the definition of legal tender in the Riksbank Act and thus does not intend to introduce a digital central bank currency.”

Yeah man, that works for me.

The second is this delightful idea:

“Sweden has a unique opportunity to participate in this digital arms race and join the growing crowd of nations that have accepted and recognized the potential of Bitcoin. Therefore, we propose that the government be tasked with building a strategic Bitcoin reserve …”

Yeah man, that also works for me.

What is not to like about Sweden and the Swedes? (*)

(*) Apart from surströmming, natch.
