tl;dr

WLD (Worldcoin) is probably a scam, proving that the Fire extension is a must-have for all crypto enthusiasts.

CThe SEC has officially started reviewing the slew of recent applications for a spot-based BTC ETF, all of which include the Blackrock clause – a surveillance sharing agreement designed specifically to address concerns previously expressed by the SEC about the potential for market manipulation. Exciting times indeed.

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – WARNING – WLD (Worldcoin)

You may be seeing some press and promotion around WLD, but I urge you to tread carefully.

An organisation known as Tools for Humanity promised last year to hand out free crypto in exchange for scanning your iris using a device known as “The Orb”. The basic premise is to create a form of UBI (Universal Basic Income) for the world’s population. With just 500,000 participants so far, that’s a lot of irises still needing to be scanned.

This is The Orb in action. My deepest apologies for the gratuitous and offensive display of face-mask wearers.

Today is supposed to be the launch day for WLD. Registration is now open with presumably the prospect of a free airdrop of WLD coins.

But please do not. My Fire extension (see below) provides me with this information about the registration website:

None of those warnings could be described as good news.

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – Fire extension

On the 8th of April 2023, the CCC reported on this must-have browser extension for Brave. I quote:

This is a very handy tool when using MetaMask to interact with DeFi (Decentralised Finance).

Download the extension and add it to your Brave or Chrome browser.

Next time a DeFi app asks permission to interact with your wallet, this handy little extension tells you in plain English what the actual effects of the interaction will be.”

This has proved to be incredibly useful so far, but now the functionality of Fire has been extended to identify malicious websites like the one above.

There is simply no good reason why you wouldn’t download and install it right now.
