tl;dr
Corruption (allegedly) on a grand scale. An absence that must just be. An immortal tale of cryptos.
Market Snap

Market Wrap
Italy’s largest bank Intesa Sanpaolo has bought 11 BTC worth approximately $1mm for its own treasury portfolio as a test of how it will handle such trades going forward on behalf of its clients. It is no coincidence that this comes soon after MiCA become law throughout the EU. The news was leaked from an internal email and wasn’t destined to be public knowledge. I wonder how many other EU banks are doing exactly the same without public disclosure?
Oh, and MicroStrategy bought another 2,530 BTC on Monday, and Semler Scientific another 237 BTC. Neither company is going to sell anytime soon.
Occasional Series – Ex-UK Minister Tulip Siddiq is (allegedly) corrupt
The CCC is always ahead of the game crypto-wise, which is all that matters in these parts.
On the 7th January, 2025 the CCC commented about Siddiq’s crypto responsibilities and her pontifications on the subject of cryptos:
“… as Minister with responsibility for ensuring financial propriety in public life, she will not be in her job for long after the recent (alleged) revelations of the assets she has acquired at the expense of Bangladeshi citizens via a $4bn fraud committed by her relatives. It will be more important to hear what her successor says.”
Frankly, I am amazed it took as much as a week for Sir Kier Free Gear Starmer to fire her. What was he thinking?
…
According to the same sources that informed the CCC of the Siddiq scoop a week or more ago, it seems unlikely that Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Queen of Thieves Reeves will last for long either.
Gordon Brown, soon to be elevated to the House of Lords, appears to be in pole position to take Reeves’ place. I do not have a great deal of confidence that with Brown back in charge of everything once again that the UK will make a crypto-friendly pivot anytime soon, but let’s hope he can surprise us all.
Occasional Series – Senator Elizabeth Warren is (allegedly) corrupt

Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – Interregnum
A good few days of birthday skiing, skinning, and skating, means that I will not be in your inbox again until the middle of next week. I know that is going to be tough on you all, probably some more than others I suspect. But never fear, you can feed your need for a daily dose of CCC by catching up on past editions right here:
Each and every one is a blockbuster of a tale.
Curious Cryptos’ Commentary – What have cryptos ever done for us? (*)
Scene: In the very near future, a band of crypto-revolutionaries has been infiltrated by the dark force of corruption (see above) and illiberalism, fighting a battle she cannot win against the freedom cryptos will deliver for all of us.
…
Senator Elizabeth Warren: What have cryptos ever done for us?
Crypto-Revolutionary I: Free and instantaneous bank transfers?
Senator Elizabeth Warren: What?
Crypto-Revolutionary I: Free and instantaneous bank transfers.
Senator Elizabeth Warren: Oh. Yeah, yeah, they did give us that, ah, that's true, yeah.
Crypto-Revolutionary II: And the ability to quickly identify dirty money.
Loretta: Oh, yeah, stopping all that money laundering using fiat cash, Senator. Remember what the city used to be like.
Senator Elizabeth Warren: Yeah, all right, I'll grant you the free and instantaneous bank transfers and stopping all that money laundering using fiat cash, the two things that cryptos have done.
Matthias: And DeFi.
Senator Elizabeth Warren: Oh, yeah, obviously DeFi. I mean DeFi goes without saying, doesn’t it? But apart from stopping all that money laundering using fiat cash, free and instantaneous bank transfers, and DeFi ...
Crypto-Revolutionary III: Practical use-cases for zero-knowledge proofs.
Crypto-Revolutionary I: Facilitating fully autonomous A.I. to spearhead a medical revolution.
Crypto-Revolutionary IV: A deep and meaningful understanding of distributed ledger technology.
Senator Elizabeth Warren: Yeah, yeah, all right, fair enough.
Crypto-Revolutionary V: And the wine.
Everyone except Senator Elizabeth Warren: Oh, yeah! Right!
Rogers: Yeah! Yeah, that's something we'd really miss Senator, if we banned cryptos. Huh.
Crypto-Revolutionary VI: Complete transparency for financial transactions.
Loretta: And the immutability of the blockchain makes us all safer, Senator.
Rogers: Yeah, they certainly know how to keep order. Let's face it; they're the only ones who could in a place like this.
All those present except Senator Elizabeth Warren: Hahaha ... all right ...
Senator Elizabeth Warren: All right, but apart from the ability to quickly identify dirty money, facilitating fully autonomous A.I. to spearhead a medical revolution, a deep and meaningful understanding of distributed ledger technology, wine, the immutability of the blockchain, practical use-cases for zero-knowledge proofs, DeFi, free and instantaneous bank transfers, and stopping all that money laundering using fiat cash, what have cryptos ever done for us?
Crypto-Revolutionary I: Brought peace?
Senator Elizabeth Warren: Oh, peace! Shut up!
…
