There are many fake web-based and app wallets out there. We would never recommend using even the trustworthy ones, but if you do decide to go down this route you need to do your research.
A simple example: one of the early web wallets was Electrum. There are two fundamental problems with web wallets. First, viruses and malware can gain access to your web wallet or record your keystrokes. Second, it is unrealistic to always be totally on your guard.
A recent scam was a claim that a security update was required. The links to that update were fake and malicious. Any Electrum wallet owner falling for this — apparently very convincing — scam lost all the contents of their wallet.
Our recommendation remains unchanged: Ledger Nano X. Do not settle for anything less.
