2.12: The Stellar Lumens (XLM) Scam

First up — XLM itself is not a scam. It is one of our top picks.

If you own XLM in your wallet, you may periodically see very small unsolicited airdrops from an unknown source. If you look at the transaction on the blockchain, there will be text directing you to a website — in one example, a site that was an almost carbon copy of a legitimate web wallet product.

There are two key giveaways to these scam sites. First, the website is not secure — never use websites that have not been secured. An unsecured website is guaranteed to be fraudulent. Second, and this is the scam: additional text claims there is free crypto being given away. If you click the link and are invited to enter your private keys — never input your private keys to any website. If you did, you would lose all your cryptos instantly.
